SSA Marine is seeking an Accounting & Administration role to join our Tymac team. This is a full-time, temporary position based out of our office in Vancouver and will report to the VP, Operations & Business Development. This 12‑month contract role provides comprehensive support across the financial lifecycle by assisting with reporting, reconciliations, payments, expense controls, and other accounting duties to ensure accuracy and timeliness. The Accounting & Administration role will also support the Finance and Environmental/Cruise teams by preparing vessel call documentation and coordinating health, safety, waste orders, and related compliance requirements. You will be part of a motivated and diverse team and will have a high degree of interaction with all employees throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • A post secondary education or minimum 5 years equivalent experience in accounting, administration or bookkeeping.
  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Payroll and Administration
  • Strong interpersonal skills: dynamic team player able to inspire, work alongside, engage others, build networks and develop trusting relationships
  • Strong analytical, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively read, estimate, calculate, interpret, measure and document in writing.
  • Strong technical skills (Office 365, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) to input and retrieve data.
  • Strong customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Marine or shipping industry experience would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and coordinate cruise schedules, waste documentation, manifests, and regulatory notifications to support cruise and waste management operations.
  • Prepare, organize, and submit waste clipboards, hazardous waste labels, orders, and billing documentation.
  • Support operations with QA/QC of supplier invoices, scheduling third‑party services, and arranging terminal escorts.
  • Coordinate with Health & Safety to ensure waste movements and documentation comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Act as primary office receptionist and provide general administrative and customer communication support.
  • Prepare, process, and manage documentation for employees, vendors, contractors, inspections, and insurance.
  • Assist with vessel call records, electronic operational reports, safety meeting minutes, and ELD tablet maintenance.
  • Support AP/AR functions, billing, collections, reconciliations, and ordering of office and operational supplies.
