About The Position

The Accountant, under the general direction of the Director of Finance and Accounting, will assist in the fiscal operations of the organization and tracking using reports and data from various internal systems. This is a professional working level position and requires the ability to independently apply knowledge and analysis of professional accounting principles.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
Reliable transportation and current auto insurance.
Requires one (1) year of experience in public accounting.

Responsibilities

Assist with monthly and annual close process.
Develop and maintain fiscal/internal controls standards of operations.
Conduct fiscal monitoring of providers.
Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual payment reconciliations with funder.
Prepare funder monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
Understands the dependencies of data from multiple systems and multiple departments.
Effectively utilizes a variety of data sources, combining extracts from data warehouses, database tables, spreadsheets, etc., to produce helpful information and facilitate decision making.
Recommend accounting related improvements to business practices.
Prepare monthly credit card and bank reconciliations, and associated journal entries.
Prepare monthly invoices and reconciliations with providers and purchased services.
Receives supervision.
Receive supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.
