About The Position

The Accountant will support a growing hydraulic repair and machine shop by maintaining accurate financial records and overseeing day-to-day accounting activities in a full-time, on-site role in Tennessee. This position focuses on month-end close, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, transaction processing, and financial reporting, while ensuring all information is entered, coded, and organized accurately. The role offers the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the company’s operations and expand into quoting, invoicing, job costing, and other operational functions as the business continues to grow.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or staff accountant roles.
  • Experience supporting month-end close processes and account reconciliations.
  • Solid understanding of general ledger accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.
  • Experience with QuickBooks.
  • Ability to perform credit card reconciliations accurately.
  • Strong skills in general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Ability to review and support financial statements.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized, with strong data accuracy.
  • Ability to identify issues before they become larger problems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Comfort working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Manufacturing, machine shop, job costing, or industrial accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with JobBOSS or similar job shop management software.
  • Experience with ECI ERP systems or comparable ERP platforms.
  • Knowledge in month-end close, general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entry work in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Interest in expanding into quoting, invoicing, and job costing related to hydraulic repair operations.
  • Desire to support continuous improvement and help refine accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Comfort working closely with operations teams to connect financial data with shop-floor activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring entries are complete and properly classified.
  • Perform bank account, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
  • Review financial transactions for accuracy, proper coding, and adherence to accounting policies.
  • Prepare and record journal entries to support the general ledger and financial statements.
  • Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner.
  • Process and enter accounting data with strong attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Support accounts payable functions, including reviewing invoices and assisting with payments as needed.
  • Support accounts receivable functions, including assisting with billing and payment application as needed.
  • Assist with expense tracking and credit card administration to ensure proper documentation and coding.
  • Help maintain accurate job costing and project-related accounting records for manufacturing and repair work.
  • Generate and review financial reports for leadership, providing insights into business performance.
  • Ensure accounting records are organized, complete, and audit-ready at all times.
  • Work closely with ownership and operations teams to support business growth and financial decision-making.
  • Support continuous improvement of accounting procedures and internal controls to strengthen financial processes.
  • Learn company processes related to hydraulic repairs, quoting, and invoicing to provide broader operational support over time.
