About The Position

The Staff Accountant will manage essential financial functions including cash management, preparing financial summaries, and maintaining compliance with eligibility requirements. This role performs monthly closing procedures, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules and statistical analysis to ensure the accuracy of the financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, governmental regulations, AAH accounting policies and the financial close schedule. The accountant also prepares financial statements and reports, including comparison to budget and historical trends, in accordance with AAH’s accounting policies and U.S. GAAP in order to ensure accurate financial statements in collaboration with the Financial Reporting Team for all internal/external reporting requirements. Assists in the investigation, research and in the development and implementation of new policies or procedures related to internal financial reporting matters raised by finance or operations to ensure financial activity is recorded in a manner consistent with AAH’s accounting policies and procedures and U.S. GAAP. Reviews assigned areas of responsibility for continuous process improvement and assists in the development/implementation of improved procedures. Provides accurate and timely completion of and responses to internal and external auditors’ requests and queries. Responds to ad-hoc reporting, analysis and special assignments, as needed. Responsible for monitoring, evaluating and implementing internal controls over areas of responsibility. Prepares tax returns and schedules in collaboration with the Tax team. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in accounting.
  • Basic knowledge of U.S. GAAP and government rules and regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of general ledger and related financial and revenue cycle business intelligence systems (e.g. Workday and Epic).
  • Self-motivated, results driven and detailed oriented.
  • Good analytical skills with proficient problem solving skills.
  • Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
