In this role, you will maintain and review financial records, analyze audits, prepare required state and federal reports, and ensure timely, accurate submission of financial documents. You’ll develop and maintain expenditure reports, collaborate with program staff to resolve discrepancies, and prepare corrective action plans and follow‑up communications that strengthen program performance. You will also collect and organize financial data to improve reporting efficiency, conduct research to support compliance with federal and state regulations, and contribute to special projects that enhance financial operations. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through detailed, purpose‑driven financial work that supports essential aging services across the state.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience.
  • Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program, may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers a bachelor’s degree with a concentration in economics, accounting, public administration, or business administration.
  • Prefers two years of experience utilizing Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) in a public or business setting.
  • Prefers two years of experience applying laws, rules, or regulations for state or non-state accounting or auditing problems.
  • Prefers experience in Microsoft Excel demonstrating proficiency writing and utilizing advanced functions or formulas.

Responsibilities

  • Performs professional maintenance and review of accounting books, reports, records, documents, statements and other financial information of the Community Care Network and the network of Area Agencies.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and tracks various audits and required reporting/certifications for State and federal grant funded programs.
  • Accurately prepares and submits routine financial reports and documents in a timely manner in accordance with federal and state regulations and departmental policies including Court of Claims.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains financial reports on Area Agencies on Aging and the Community Care Network reported expenditures.
  • Confers with Aging staff and Area Agencies on Aging staff to resolve discrepancies and provide recommendations for timely resolutions.
  • Prepares corrective action plans, management recommendations and follow-up letters.
  • Collects, compiles, and inputs various financial information into accounting spreadsheets and database programs to increase the efficiency by which the information is retrieved.
  • Conducts research, develops, drafts, and implements financial expenditure reporting to comply with Federal and State regulations.
  • Develops and researches special projects.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
