About The Position

The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire an Account Technician I. The successful candidate will perform routine accounting work involving independent performance of complex transactions. Utilizing the Financial Operating and Administration (FOA) system and KnowledgeLake scanning system. This position is responsible for the overview of obligation balances and verification of vendor certification through the accounting database maintained by the Illinois Office of the Comptroller (IOC).

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of college and completion of an approved training course or three years of related clerical bookkeeping experience.
  • Qualifying state employees in the employee Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.

  • Prefers working knowledge of accounting techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Performs difficult accounting work utilizing an automated accounting system.
  • Reviews all travel vouchers for appropriate reimbursement and supporting documentation.
  • Reviews all invoices for the Land Acquisition Section for remittance of monthly invoices for rental property owned by the state of Illinois.
  • Tracks and updates utilities spreadsheet.
  • Reconciles vendor payments against vendor statement.
  • Verifies vendor certification through Statewide Accounting Management System (SAMS) prior to scheduling invoice for payment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
