About The Position

Join the Louisiana Department of Health’s Payment Management team and play a key role in supporting the financial operations of Louisiana’s largest state agency with a budget exceeding $14 billion. Requirements

  • Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR A bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR An advanced degree in finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Audits and processes employee travel reimbursements, contract travel reimbursements, and other business-related travel expenses in LaGov ERP, SharePoint, and other financial systems.
  • Reviews travel requests and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with Louisiana State Travel Guide PPM49, LDH policies, and state and federal regulations.
  • Provides guidance and customer support to LDH employees and external partners regarding travel procedures, reimbursement requirements, and policy compliance.
  • Performs monthly audits of LDH Controlled Billed Account (CBA) and Corporate Travel Card activity to monitor compliance and identify potential fraudulent activity.
  • Conducts accounting research and analysis, maintains accurate financial records and reports, and implements necessary process adjustments to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborates with state agencies, auditors, financial officials, and LDH leadership regarding departmental financial operations, travel policies, and compliance matters.
  • Develops and maintains desk procedures, identifies process deficiencies or weaknesses, and assists with special projects and other assigned duties.
