About The Position

The Accountant II provides timely and accurate financial record keeping and reporting for Nuveen’s rapidly growing Green Capital sustainable commercial real estate lending business. Under moderate supervision, the role performs accounting activities in accordance with accounting principles and standards to help ensure compliance with applicable regulations, laws, and reporting requirements. Responsibilities include preparing journal entries and financial statements, supporting monthly and quarterly closing and consolidation processes, and performing loan accounting and subsidiary consolidation work.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of accounting experience.
• University degree preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities and multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

• At least 3 years of accounting experience.
• Previous experience using NetSuite ledger and Salesforce.
• Strong proficiency in Excel.
• Previous experience working with subsidiary consolidations.
• Previous experience in loan accounting and accounting research.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with applicable regulations, laws, and reporting requirements.
• Prepare balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports.
• Perform monthly and quarterly close and consolidation processes to support timely and accurate completion.
• Maintain accounting statements, reports, general ledger accounts, cost and revenue reports, balance sheets, and bank statement reconciliations.
• Verify invoices and other accounting documents and records, including invoice approvals, disbursements, expense vouchers, and wire payments.
• Research the effects of new accounting standards, reporting requirements, and regulatory standards on transaction accounting.
• Perform loan accounting.
• Consolidate subsidiaries and understand and reconcile data across multiple subsidiaries.
• Support quarterly financial reporting of accounting data to Nuveen LLC.
