About The Position

ONEOK is looking for an Accountant II to join the Refined Products and Crude (RPC) Financial Reporting team. This position reports to the RPC Financial Reporting Manager and helps ensure financial results are accurate and complete. Key responsibilities include preparing accounting entries, preparing intercompany eliminations, completing account reconciliations, analyzing financial results, and working with finance, accounting, and commercial teams during the monthly close process to research issues, resolves discrepancies, and support timely and accurate reporting. The role also assists with variance analysis, audit requests, reporting needs, and special projects. This position is expected to identify opportunities to improve processes and ensure work is completed in compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. The ideal candidate has strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a good understanding of midstream accounting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or other related field with previous experience working in various accounting functions or equivalent combination of formal education and the following job related experience: Accounting
  • Experience with and knowledge of generally accepted accounting methods and procedures
  • Experience performing an intermediate level of accounting activities such as financial accounting, property accounting, account classification, or gas accounting
  • Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software
  • Experience and/or training related to: Financial accounting and reporting standards and processes (specified by position)
  • Experience and/or training related to: Economic forecasting/modeling and corporate budget functions (specified by position)
  • Experience and/or training related to: Gas accounting activities and terminology (specified by position)
  • Communication/interpersonal skills
  • Experience researching, composing, reconciling, and preparing reports, invoices, studies, and correspondence applicable to position
  • Experience reading and interpreting company correspondence, reports, accounting-related publications, income statements, contracts, ledgers, manuals, computer printouts, and legal documents
  • Ability to: interact, advise and communicate effectively
  • Ability to: develop and present information to individuals and groups
  • Ability to: communicate and/or exchange information; conduct oral presentations

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and/or prepare journal entries, reports, budgets, and records related to financial accounting, gas accounting, or economic forecasting/budgeting
  • Perform calculations and/or analyses including but not limited to: Interest, Cash flow, Financial ratios, Pressure base/Btu conversions, Discounts, Variances, Depreciations (book/tax), Projections/forecasts
  • Assist in development and maintenance of applicable spreadsheet models and/or distributed applications such as those used in finance and other accounting activities
  • Compile, verify, and/or prepare financial information including but not limited to: Forecasted versus actual expenses, Governmental/regulatory reports, Invoices, Financial reports, Reconciliation reports, Quarterly income statements
  • Provide information and assistance to employees from governmental and/or regulatory agencies, auditing firms, management, and others concerning accounting processes and various financial reports
