About The Position

This role supports the maintenance of cost accounting methodologies for UH Health System, including overhead allocation and statistical drivers. The position involves calculating Net Revenue Reimbursement, performing data integrity checks, and collaborating with IT on system upgrades and testing. The Accountant (Financial Analyst) will also develop and maintain reporting solutions for management and senior leadership, assist in rolling out custom reporting, and handle special projects such as Product Line Profitability Reporting and Physician Based Reporting. Duties include source system extract definitions, validation, costing development, GL and Payroll costing assignments, reporting development, Net Revenue modeling, and assisting in implementing newly acquired hospitals onto the EPSi system. The role also includes performing other duties as assigned, complying with all policies and standards, and adhering to requirements for maintaining Protected Health Information (PHI).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ years accounting experience
  • Ability to multi-task

  • Good understanding of GAAP, general ledger, health care cost accounting, and budget process
  • Must possess analytical and problem solving skills
  • Understanding of Financial Systems and MS Office products, Excel, Access, Word

Responsibilities

  • Aide in maintenance of cost accounting methodologies (RVU, RCC, Variable Charge, ABC) for UH Health System, including overhead allocation and statistical drivers.
  • Calculate Net Revenue Reimbursement including preparation, allocations, reconciliations.
  • Perform regular data integrity checks to ensure validity of source system data.
  • Work closely with IT on all system upgrades and testing (beta development, functionality testing, movement into production environment).
  • Help develop and maintain reporting solutions and analyses for management and senior leadership.
  • Assist in roll-out of custom reporting solutions including dashboards, standard monthly/weekly/daily reporting, in a productionized, repeatable fashion.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned (e.g. Product Line Profitability Reporting, Physician Based Reporting, Length of stay and utilization expense reduction projects, business planning data requests, system enhancements).
  • Handle ad-hoc reporting requests with varying time sensitivity and criticality.
  • Perform source system extract definitions/modifications, validation & testing, full costing and overhead allocation development, GL and Payroll costing assignments/mapping/definitions, reporting/dashboard reporting development.
  • Perform Net Revenue modeling and assist in implementing newly acquired hospitals onto our EPSi system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
