Maryland Department of Labor is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for an Advanced Accountant position within the Division of Labor and Industry, General Administration unit. This position examines, analyzes and interprets the various accounting systems, records and reports within the Division of Labor and Industry by applying generally accepted accounting principles in order to modify and maintain agency accounting systems, cash receipt processes, prepare financial reports or statements and give fiscal advice to management. This position performs specialized duties within the 7 main units of the Division, each with unique funding sources including federal, special, general and revenue funding as well as cash receipts for penalties, fines, and sales. This position is responsible for maintaining and monitoring state and federal fiscal budgeting and accounting and ensuring management is aware of fiscal status on a monthly basis. This position advises on allowable procurements and ensures compliance with funding requirements, State accounting procedures, and all related reporting. This position also serves as a liaison between the Division and the Department’s Office of Administration, federal fiscal oversight, and internal and external auditing personnel. This position also assists in legislative responses and special projects. The combined budget for the Division is $21.3 million.
