About The Position

RH Strategic is seeking an Account Supervisor with public affairs expertise to join its team in Washington, D.C. This role is ideal for professionals who are experienced working closely with clients at the intersection of policy and communications within the D.C. market, with particular emphasis on the issues that affect the technology, labor and healthcare policy sectors. This is a full-time role based in Washington, D.C., requiring an in-office presence of at least three days per week. To be qualified, candidates must currently reside in the DMV metro area. RH Strategic is a well-established public relations agency with a robust client portfolio across technology, cybersecurity, healthcare, government, sustainability, and education industries. Requirements

  • Congressional Hill experience, with at least two (2) years working for a Member of Congress.
  • Experience advocating on behalf of an association, agency, administration, or corporation to Congress to influence federal policy.
  • Experience in a D.C.-based public affairs or PR agency (at least two (2) years), or in corporate government relations or communications.
  • A strong understanding of how policy and regulation are shaped and influenced.
  • Creative, critical thinker who brings fresh, proactive ideas to client campaigns.
  • Demonstrated interest in policy issues, particularly across sectors such as technology, labor, or healthcare.
  • 7–10 years of policy, public affairs and/or policy communications experience.
  • Ability to devise and execute public affairs communications strategies and campaigns to support client objectives.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work.
  • Experience developing content including congressional testimony, executive reporting materials, blogs and bylines, and policy messaging and briefings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with teams, clients, media, and partners.
  • Ability to take feedback and apply it to future work, with a natural curiosity and desire to grow.
  • Must be a proactive, detail-oriented communicator.

Responsibilities

  • Leading creation and execution of public affairs strategies and campaigns to influence public policy and regulation through the press, social media and events, and engagement with coalitions, trade associations, think tanks, and advocacy organizations.
  • Conceptualizing, drafting and editing public affairs and policy communications content such as talking points, briefing documents, op-eds and testimony.
  • Monitoring legislation and policy developments, and strategically counseling clients on real-time policy updates, their impacts, and methods to shape outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, particularly their government relations teams, and acting as a strategic communications advisor.
  • Leading internal teams and utilizing available resources to ensure the team meets project expectations, delivers high-quality work, and ensures strategies align with business goals.
  • Representing the firm and clients among influencers and organizations within DC.
  • Mentoring junior staff and shaping their professional growth.
