Account Manager

Subject•Austin, TX
•$100,000 - $115,000•Onsite

About The Position

This role is for an Account Manager (AM) who will serve as the AE for current customers and partners. The AM will own their book of business end-to-end, from contract signing through launch, adoption, renewal, and expansion, and will be responsible for achieving revenue targets across renewals, expansion, and new business within their accounts. Key responsibilities include managing launches like a project manager, building mutual success plans with district leaders, treating renewals as new deals, identifying and closing expansion opportunities, conducting on-site visits, and providing field insights back to the Product and Leadership teams. Performance will be measured on net revenue retention, gross retention, expansion bookings, and student usage.

Requirements

  • Proven sales experience (AM, AE, or expansion role) in complex, multi-stakeholder B2B environments (SaaS, pharma, medical, or similar long-cycle, field-heavy, relationship-driven industries).
  • Ability to consistently meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Strong understanding of retention, expansion, and attainment metrics.
  • Project management skills: ability to own implementations or rollouts with multiple moving parts and stakeholders, ensuring plans have owners and dates, and proactively addressing slipping timelines.
  • Outcome-oriented approach, focusing on student usage, renewals, and account growth.
  • Account ownership mentality: willingness to fix issues or find resources to resolve problems within accounts.
  • Integrity and honesty in communications with clients.
  • Preference for in-person engagement over remote communication.
  • Proficiency with AI tools (Claude, Gong, Salesforce, Notion) for workflow enhancement.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to receive and act on feedback.
  • Commitment to working 60+ hours a week during peak periods (back-to-school, summer programs, spring renewals).
  • Ability to take initiative and drive results.

Nice To Haves

  • Former K-12 educator background with a transition into B2B sales or account management.
  • Ability to interpret educational reports (e.g., STAAR, TEKS) and translate them into expansion opportunities.
  • Formal project or implementation management experience (PMP, implementation lead, or similar).
  • Experience building custom AI prompts, agents, or automations for account planning or renewal forecasting.
  • Experience in an early-stage startup that underwent hyper-growth.
  • History of multiple promotions within a previous company.

Responsibilities

  • Own a portfolio of existing school and district partners.
  • Manage launches from kickoff, rostering and integrations, teacher training, to go-live, coordinating Ops, Integrations, and Product teams.
  • Build mutual success plans with district leaders, agreeing on success metrics and holding both sides accountable.
  • Manage renewals by understanding key stakeholders, budget cycles, and procurement paths well in advance.
  • Identify and close expansion opportunities (more schools, grade levels, courses, programs) by prospecting within accounts and multithreading with district leadership.
  • Conduct on-site visits, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), board meetings, professional development sessions, and attend conferences.
  • Gather and relay field insights, including district feedback, usage blockers, and potential future needs, to Product and Leadership teams.
  • Achieve targets for net revenue retention, gross retention, expansion bookings, and student usage.

Benefits

  • Aggressive, uncapped commission plan with significant upside for top performers.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Stocked kitchen with breakfast items, coffee, snacks, and drinks.
  • Daily lunch and dinner provided.
  • $100/month toward gym membership.
  • 90-minute wellness break Monday through Thursday.
  • 10% salary increase for living within 1.5 miles of the office.
  • Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO).
  • Opportunity for personal and professional growth in a fast-growing company.
  • Generous travel stipends.
