About The Position

This role is for an Account Manager at Gecko, focusing on building trusted relationships with university and college partners across the US to drive their success, retention, and growth. The position involves day-to-day relationship management, handling renewals, expansion opportunities, and senior stakeholder conversations. The role requires spending time with partners on campus, representing Gecko at sector events, and carrying commercial responsibility with clear ownership of renewal and expansion targets. It is a proactive account management role focused on retention and growth, requiring a blend of strong account management skills and commercial confidence to navigate complex organizations and multiple stakeholders. The goal is to build partnerships that universities wouldn’t want to lose by understanding their needs, proving value, and spotting risks or opportunities early.

Requirements

  • Experience owning a portfolio of accounts in a B2B SaaS business.
  • Direct responsibility for retention, renewals, and expansion.
  • Comfort managing complex or strategic accounts with multiple stakeholders and longer decision cycles.
  • Ability to build genuine relationships without losing commercial focus.
  • Proven commercial outcomes influenced through renewals, expansion, upsell, or growth within existing accounts.
  • Confidence talking about pricing, value, revenue, and next steps.
  • Ability to uncover and progress opportunities effectively.
  • Skill in leading meetings, demos, executive reviews, and negotiations.
  • Organization, proactivity, and comfort managing a portfolio, pipeline, and regular travel.
  • Ability to ask good questions, listen properly, and take initiative.
  • Willingness to share knowledge with the wider team.
  • Must be US-based with a valid right to work in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of a portfolio of university and college partners.
  • Understand partner goals, priorities, challenges, usage, and future plans.
  • Build trusted relationships with users and senior sponsors.
  • Create strong, multi-threaded relationships across departments and teams.
  • Develop success plans and account strategies that connect Gecko to meaningful outcomes.
  • Maintain a clear view of partner health, risk, and opportunity.
  • Own renewals from early planning through to agreement.
  • Ensure partners clearly see the value they are getting from Gecko.
  • Identify opportunities to expand into new teams, departments, and use cases.
  • Lead expansion opportunities from discovery through to negotiation and close.
  • Carry renewal and expansion targets and maintain an accurate pipeline.
  • Run account reviews that connect partner outcomes to future opportunities.
  • Keep Salesforce useful, current, and honest.
  • Visit partners regularly on campus across the US.
  • Use face-to-face time to deepen relationships and uncover account dynamics.
  • Represent Gecko at Higher Education conferences, exhibitions, and partner events.
  • Balance in-person and remote engagement effectively for each partner.
  • Act as the strategic owner of partner relationships, coordinating with Support, Product, and other teams.
  • Work closely with Commercial, Product, Support, and Enablement teams.
  • Deliver confident demos, account reviews, presentations, and commercial conversations.
  • Follow through on commitments.
