This Account Manager role is a commercial position responsible for owning and growing a portfolio of existing customers, focusing on renewals and expansion by identifying new departments, use cases, and budget holders within accounts. The role involves working with a mix of small, medium, and large organizations, collaborating with other Account Managers, marketing, customer success, product, and the new business team. It offers significant ownership and visibility within a nimble organization. The ideal candidate enjoys owning a number, building relationships in complex organizations, and wants their work to be visible.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of B2B sales experience, ideally in SaaS.
  • Track record of building pipeline and hitting a quota.
  • Hungry and ambitious.
  • Sales is the chosen career because of the ability to solve problems and maximize earnings.
  • Ready to prove oneself, not settled into cruise control.
  • Coachable and curious.
  • Asks good questions and takes feedback well.
  • Owns a number and knows where it stands.
  • Can walk someone through their forecast, committed deals, and at-risk deals.
  • Treats forecasting as part of the job.
  • Grows accounts, does not just hold them.
  • Looks for the next department, stakeholder, and budget.
  • Comfortable using Salesforce or another CRM to manage pipeline.
  • Must be based on the East Coast of the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Own and grow a portfolio of existing customers.
  • Renew customer accounts.
  • Grow accounts by finding the next department, use case, and budget holder within existing accounts.
  • Manage a portfolio of small, medium, and large organizations.
  • Work alongside other Account Managers.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, customer success, product, and the new business team.
  • Build pipeline from scratch and ask for new business in a systematic way.
  • Bring problems and proposals to the table.
  • Raise issues early when something is not working and provide a view on the fix.
  • Manage pipeline using Salesforce or another CRM.
  • Run renewal and expansion calls.
  • Hold an accurate forecast.
  • Identify expansion opportunities and build a plan for priorities.
  • Communicate Guidebook benefits to new teams and handle objections.
  • Consistently renew and grow the portfolio.
  • Accurately forecast the business.
  • Run a repeatable playbook (outbound, discovery, demo, and close) that generates consistent expansion.
  • Support onboarding of new Account Managers.
