About The Position

BDC is the only bank devoted exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. As an Account Manager, Small Business Financing, you will be responsible for business development and managing a portfolio of small business clients with revenues of up to $3 million. You will leverage your network in the Brossard region to identify opportunities, deliver tailored financing and advisory solutions, and contribute directly to the success of Canadian entrepreneurs. Your work will support the growth and resilience of small and medium-sized businesses across Canada.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • One to three years of experience in business development, sales, or client relationship management.
  • Proven experience developing and leveraging a professional network within the business community.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ability to assess business needs and recommend appropriate financial or advisory solutions.
  • Experience negotiating and presenting proposals to clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French.
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle (required for certain locations, including Brossard).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial banking, financial services, or small business financing.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis, lending products, and risk assessment processes.
  • Established network within the Brossard and surrounding business community.
  • Bilingualism in French and English.
  • Experience working with entrepreneurs or small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with entrepreneurs, clients, and prospects to understand their businesses, identify key challenges, and recommend appropriate BDC financing and advisory solutions.
  • Implement a personal business development and account management plan aligned with the Business Centre’s objectives to grow, retain, and deepen client relationships.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of business opportunities through prospecting, referrals, and network development.
  • Analyze financial statements and business performance to structure, negotiate, and present financing proposals.
  • Exercise sound credit judgment to assess client risk and determine suitable financing solutions.
  • Actively participate in the local business ecosystem (e.g., chambers of commerce, industry associations) to expand your network and generate referrals.
  • Use your negotiation and communication skills to align financing proposals with client needs and BDC requirements.
