Account Executive, Messaging

We Are RALLYLos Angeles, CA
$32 - $34Hybrid

About The Position

RALLY is an advocacy agency that partners with organizations to drive progress on complex political and social issues. The Messaging vertical is the persuasive engine of the agency, turning research and insight into language that moves audiences and shifts narratives. This role seeks an Account Executive who is a strong and versatile writer, capable of crafting persuasive language for various platforms and audiences. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of framing, message frameworks, and narrative change, and can write convincingly in different voices. This is an opportunity to work on consequential issues and contribute to meaningful social change.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in strategic communications, messaging, copywriting, campaigns, or marketing.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with work samples that show real range: short-form social, web or marketing copy, quick-turn campaign copy, and longer pieces such as talking points, op-eds, or speeches.
  • Demonstrated ability to write with tension, emotion, and a clear point of view, not just clean and correct prose.
  • A working understanding of the difference between copy and messaging, and genuine interest in the framing and narrative strategy behind both.
  • Ability to produce a useful first draft independently, then seek out and incorporate feedback without ego.
  • Comfort adapting voice, writing persuasively as an organization, an executive, a coalition, or a campaign rather than defaulting to your own register.
  • Curiosity about audiences and issues, with the research instincts to ground language in evidence rather than instinct.
  • Rigor and accuracy: you fact-check your own work, source your claims, and sweat the details.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple timelines, deliverables, and client accounts simultaneously.
  • Highly collaborative mindset, with experience working cross-functionally with strategy, creative, and execution teams.
  • Comfort level with client and stakeholder engagement in a professional, service-oriented capacity.

Nice To Haves

  • Agency experience, particularly on integrated, brand, or campaign teams
  • Copywriting for nonprofits, foundations, or advocacy organizations
  • Traditional marketing or brand experience, including taglines, brand voice, and campaign concepting
  • Political, issue, or electoral campaign writing experience
  • Experience writing to design, pairing copy with graphics, motion, or video scripts
  • Familiarity with message testing, focus groups, or survey-informed messaging
  • Exposure to message frameworks, narrative change strategy, or executive voice guides
  • Spanish-language writing a plus

Responsibilities

  • Produce strong first drafts of messaging deliverables, including core messages, toplines, proof points, dos and don'ts, and channel-specific variants.
  • Translate a message framework into channel- and messenger-appropriate language: for example, a headline, a Reel, a 30-second spot, and an op-ed using a consistent voice.
  • Write high-quality copy across mediums: social posts and captions, web and landing page copy, quick-turn copy points and statements, email, scripts, ad concepts, talking points, op-eds, and “about” language.
  • Contribute to message frameworks, narrative arcs, verbal identity, and executive voice guidelines under the direction of senior team members.
  • Support the Insights & Analysis work that messaging is built on, including desk research, media and social scans, landscape reviews, and stakeholder interview notes, and proactively flag observations that could shape the messaging and framing.
  • Partner with our Visual Content, Digital, Advertising, Earned Media, and Thought Leadership teams so messaging holds up in execution, including writing alongside design, motion, and video.
  • Help draft messages for testing and/or focus groups.
  • Contribute to message training and prep materials that help clients, spokespeople, and coalition partners deliver with clarity and confidence.
  • Turn around rapid-response language when the news cycle demands it, grounded in the overall strategy and core messaging.
  • Manage timelines, trackers, and deliverables across multiple accounts with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Contribute to internal messaging tools, templates, and team-wide learnings, and stay current on the campaigns, culture, and persuasion research shaping the field.
  • Perform other duties as required to support team and organizational priorities.
