About The Position

Sells, promotes, and markets natural gas services to residential and commercial builders and developers in order to maximize sales and revenue for Atlanta Gas Light. This role involves promoting the benefits of natural gas, obtaining customer requests for gas projects, gathering necessary information for the sales process, and entering/maintaining data in the company's database. The position also requires explaining calculations like dedicated design day capacity, attending sales meetings and industry events, and building relationships with builders and developers to meet sales goals. Ensuring excellent customer service and satisfaction by responding to customer needs and keeping them informed is crucial. The role also involves representing the company at meetings, performing administrative tasks related to gas projects, and processing customer inquiries and requests.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in engineering, marketing, business administration or a related field.
  • In lieu of degree, may substitute 3-5 years’ experience in the natural gas industry.
  • Experiences should include sales, customer service, understanding gas, field operations, construction operations and rates and regulation.
  • Ability to effectively sell, listen, and communicate with customers.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Computer literacy - intermediate proficiency.
  • Proficient in use of PC and multiple mainframe and software programs, including MS Office, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of city and state building and land regulations.
  • Knowledge of natural gas distribution system facilities, including the OPM and Construction Manuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply engineering and architectural plans.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Sells to prospective customers to promote the benefits of natural gas and multiple burner tips.
  • Obtains customer requests for residential and/or commercial gas projects and gathers necessary information (e.g., scaled site plans, plat information, customer needs).
  • Enters and maintains customer and project information into the database (ARM/WMIS).
  • Ensures all required information is collected and entered for the next phase (Design, Engineering, or Construction Operations).
  • Provides information necessary to negotiate and prepare easement agreements and approvals.
  • Sells to and assists industrial customers by answering questions, gathering information, and processing paperwork.
  • Explains dedicated design day capacity (DDDC) calculations to customers.
  • Attends sales meetings and participates in monthly conference calls.
  • Attends Trade Association and Home Builders Association meetings to build and maintain working relationships with builders and developers.
  • Meets or exceeds territory and/or customer goals.
  • Ensures excellent customer service and satisfaction by responding to customer needs, keeping customers informed, and ensuring work is scheduled effectively.
  • Promotes the use of natural gas by communicating its benefits to existing and potential clients.
  • Represents the Company at meetings by communicating Company policy, procedure, and other information relative to the gas industry.
  • Performs ARM/WMIS tasks such as plat redlines, gas load, rough proposal drawings, and cost estimating.
  • Reviews and obtains contracts and customer contributions and notifies internal contacts.
  • Responds to customer inquiries regarding gas availability and processes gas-availability requests.
  • Determines USF projects (AGL).
  • Contacts/meets with customers as necessary, including discussions regarding AGL’s process and timeframes.
  • Gathers field data for permitting.
  • Processes construction requests for residential scattered lots.
