About The Position

Weber Shandwick is a global "earned-first" communications network that delivers award-winning campaigns by blending creative storytelling, data-driven insights, and stakeholder value. In a fast-moving, complex media landscape, they help brands break through the blur by creating cultural relevance and driving real business impact. This role is designed for a seasoned media strategist who lives and breathes B2B technology, enterprise software, and emerging tech trends (including AI, cloud, and trust infrastructure). As a Director, you will be the earned media anchor for our top-tier tech clients. You will architect high-impact media strategies, counsel C-suite executives, and leverage proprietary tools—including Weber I/O and our network of influencers through Weber Create—to build campaigns that win in culture. You will not just pitch stories; you will shape the strategic narratives that define the future of technology.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of experience in public relations, communications, or journalism, with a heavy emphasis on B2B technology within an agency environment.
  • A proven track record of securing high-profile placements in top-tier business (e.g., WSJ, Bloomberg, CNBC) and technology trade publications.
  • Deep, active relationships with key tech reporters.
  • Exceptional ability to connect macroeconomic trends and cultural moments with enterprise tech narratives.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft compelling pitches, bylines, press releases, and executive briefing materials.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing junior talent, with a collaborative approach to working across cross-functional teams.
  • A high degree of adaptability and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed, global agency environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute proactive, integrated earned media campaigns that align with client business objectives.
  • Secure top-tier business, financial, and tech trade coverage.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior clients.
  • Provide real-time counsel on media landscape shifts, crisis/issues management, and executive visibility opportunities.
  • Translate complex, highly technical B2B products and services into compelling, culturally resonant stories that appeal to both technical decision-makers and the broader business community.
  • Partner seamlessly with Weber I/O (analytics and AI) and Weber Create (integrated media and influencers) to ensure earned media is machine-readable, optimized for search, and integrated into broader marketing ecosystems.
  • Maintain and continuously cultivate deep relationships with key journalists, editors, and analysts at top-tier business and technology publications.
  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of media specialists.
  • Guide their professional development and ensure excellence in execution across all account operations.
  • Play a critical role in agency growth by contributing strategic media insights and participating in new business pitches for the Tech Practice.

Benefits

  • Employees are required to work in the office for a minimum of three days a week, unless additional in-office days are directed by their agency or manager.
  • Omnicom is committed to hiring and developing exceptional talent.
  • We strongly believe that celebrating what makes us different makes us better together.
  • Equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, religion, color, ethnic origin, gender, gender identity, age, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, disability, or any other basis prohibited by applicable federal, state, or local law.
