About The Position

The Department of Finance is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient processing of both standard and complex payables invoices while providing exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Process invoices using a 3-Way matching method, ensuring accuracy and compliance with standard audit requirements.
Verify payment support, obtain necessary approvals, and ensure correct general ledger coding.
Enter payment and budgetary information into the City's financial system with precision.
Apply financial internal controls to invoices submitted electronically, manually, and via electronic interfaces.
Prioritize and process work efficiently and in a timely manner.
Address supplier and department inquiries promptly and professionally through email, phone, or Microsoft Teams.
Interpret and apply contractual provisions to ensure compliance.
Calculate discounts and dates to optimize financial benefits.
Conduct research and data gathering using Excel, and prepare reports as required.
Provide assistance with phone calls and reception duties when needed.
