About The Position

The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states. Waymo’s Technical Program Managers and Program Managers are accountable for Waymo’s roadmap execution by providing thoughtful cross-functional planning, clarity, and proactive risk management. In the face of complex technical and operational challenges with no established playbooks to follow, we act with thoughtful urgency, driving conversations, discussions, and outcomes. Our team partners closely with every function of Waymo to structure, own and drive work towards real-world deployments of the Waymo Driver across platforms and geographies. In this hybrid role, you will report to an Head of Vendor Enablement Office.

Requirements

  • Possess the technical depth to audit code-managed configurations, and comfort to make updates to reflect required access updates and policy tweaks to provide access paths in today’s environment. Focus on future state simplification by building requirements for internal access tools, processes and automation of workflows.
  • Deep technical understanding of enterprise Identity Access Management frameworks (e.g., Okta, SailPoint, Google Cloud IAM, or custom frameworks).
  • Proven ability to proactively identify access security risks, build mitigation and contingency plans, and track risk-reduction metrics (e.g., access latency, over-provisioning remediation).
  • Strong capability to manage project timelines, navigate ambiguity, align conflicting priorities, and communicate complex architectures to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in writing production-grade code (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript) to build internal tools, automate workflows, and interface with REST/gRPC APIs.
  • Experience designing and developing lightweight applications or automation layers that sit on top of legacy vendor systems to optimize user experiences.
  • Direct experience building automated compliance or automated review workflows that detect, flag, and de-provision orphaned or unnecessary access rights.
  • Familiarity with managing the unique security and lifecycle requirements associated with vendor, contractor, or temporary external workforces.

Responsibilities

  • Own current end-to-end processes and workflows for tooling & access management across Global Extended Workforce
  • Actively partner with Engineering to develop applications, scripts, and custom tooling that sit on top of current access systems to simplify access paths and drive operational efficiencies.
  • Lead proactive risk-reduction initiatives. Audit, design, and enforce strict "least privilege" models to ensure users are never over-provisioned with unnecessary tools or access.
  • Deliver simplified future state access management programs for the Global Extended Workforce, defining clear milestones, ownership, and technical dependencies.
  • Partner directly with Engineers, Tool Owners, Cybersecurity, and Business Leadership to translate complex security standards into frictionless technical workflows, develop tooling and access policies, and educate on best practices.
  • Exercise strong technical judgment to replace manual access-management bottlenecks with scalable, automated engineering solutions, leveraging an AI-first approach.
