About The Position

The Access Monitor/Guard I monitors Government test equipment and property at White Sands Missile Range. The role may involve serving at a fixed post, making rounds on foot or by motor vehicle, and escorting people to locations on the post. The employee may answer visitors’ and customers’ questions and provide directions, while ensuring emergencies and security violations are promptly discovered and reported. This is a surge position. Days and hours vary according to requirements, and the work may involve long hours, flexible shifts, outdoor conditions such as heat, rain, snow, and wind, and occasional temporary duty travel when necessary. Duties also include handling and safeguarding test data and operating facility intrusion detection systems.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Department of War Secret Clearance.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Fluency in spoken and written English.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to complete and deliver required work with minimal supervision.
Ability to remain focused and observant of surroundings.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Monitor activities and protect controlled areas.
Record the names of individuals requesting access.
Log vehicles entering and leaving the site.
Grant or deny access at facilities and locations.
Escort visitors.
Retrieve and deliver test data to and from remote site locations.
Archive data at existing storage facilities.
Package and prepare test data for shipping and deliver it to commercial shipping facilities.
Prepare compendiums of documentation for delivery to customers.
Conduct local-area sweeps to ensure personnel are free of unauthorized electronic devices.
Operate facility intrusion detection systems by arming and disarming them.
Discover and report emergencies and security violations.
Answer visitor and customer questions and provide directions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
