About The Position

UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks a Trauma & Acute Care Surgeon to join our growing team. Our competitive compensation and benefits package places us as your top choice in the region. This role involves serving as a Level I Trauma Center (Adult and Pediatric) with approximately 130,000 emergency visits, 5,300 trauma activations, and 2,500 Surgical ICU admissions annually. The position includes a robust Acute Care Surgery practice with dedicated trauma day/night coverage and surgical intensivist responsibilities across various high-acuity subspecialty patients. You will work within three Surgical ICUs with a total of 40 beds, supported by a large team of advanced practice providers. The hospital administration is committed to trauma program growth, and there is access to departmental resources for research. An academic appointment through UMass Chan Medical School is commensurate with experience. The division is expanding from 7 to 8 surgeons due to increasing trauma volume. Modern technology platforms like Epic EMR will be used for communication and workflow efficiency.

Requirements

  • Board Certified/Board Eligible
  • Fellowship training in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care required
  • Interest in academic medicine
  • Interest in clinical, quality, simulation, and injury prevention research
  • MD or DO degree
  • Qualify for medical Massachusetts license

  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered clinical care
  • Two or more years of experience preferred

Responsibilities
