About The Position

UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks an Academic Foot and Ankle Surgeon to join their growing team. This role is part of an established academic orthopedic department with a strong history of clinical excellence and training. The department has a comprehensive foot and ankle program performing over 1,100 cases annually across UMass facilities and a dedicated ambulatory surgery center. The position involves a collaborative, multidisciplinary team and a strong commitment to medical education, with an active role in training orthopedic residents and medical students at UMass Chan Medical School. There are opportunities for clinical and basic science research, with an academic appointment commensurate with experience and training. The role offers a diverse and complex case mix within a high-volume academic and tertiary care environment, access to modern technology platforms like Epic EMR, and strong administrative, clinical, and operational support.

Requirements

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery.
• Fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery required.
• Demonstrated interest in academic medicine, including teaching and/or research.
• MD or DO degree.
• Eligibility for Massachusetts medical licensure.
• Commitment to collaborative practice and long-term program growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive foot and ankle surgical care.
• Participate in the training of orthopedic residents and medical students.
• Engage in clinical and/or basic science research.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including foot and ankle surgeons and podiatry partners.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the foot and ankle program.
