About The Position

The Department of Computing Science at the University of Alberta invites applications for a full-time Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) member. This position is a three-year term appointment, commencing in July 2026 and ending on June 30, 2029. The role is in-person at North Campus, Edmonton. The ATS member may be required to teach courses such as CMPUT 191 - Introduction to Data Science, CMPUT 195 - Introduction to Principles and Techniques of Data Science, CMPUT 200 - Responsible Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, CMPUT 291 - Introduction to File and Database Management, CMPUT 393 - Scalable Data-Intensive Analytics, and INT D 491 - Data Science Capstone. Other courses and duties may be assigned based on changing conditions and candidate qualifications. Requirements

  • Current Academic Teaching Staff will receive first consideration for positions with a term of 8 months or longer.
  • Must be qualified to teach the listed Data Science courses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses including CMPUT 191 - Introduction to Data Science, CMPUT 195 - Introduction to Principles and Techniques of Data Science, CMPUT 200 - Responsible Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, CMPUT 291 - Introduction to File and Database Management, CMPUT 393 - Scalable Data-Intensive Analytics, and INT D 491 - Data Science Capstone.
  • Potentially teach other courses and perform related duties as conditions change and depending on candidate qualifications.
  • Foster a workplace that prioritizes safety in all its forms—physical, cultural, and psychological.
  • Promote a safe environment, adhere to all safety laws, policies and procedures, complete required safety training, identify hazards and implement controls, report incidents, and contribute to a culture of belonging and respect.
