About The Position

Under the direction of the Academic Dean, the Academic Resource Specialist is responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operations of the Academic Resource Center and assisting students with course and laboratory assignments in a tribal college setting. Other duties include but are not limited to policy and program planning, development and evaluation, and acting as a liaison with a variety of publics on and off campus in a manner that is consistent with the College Mission, Native Core Values, and College goals and objectives. This position is funded by a Title III Grant.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Ability to coordinate overlapping projects and deadlines required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills required.
  • Experience in report development and data interpretation.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Valid Drivers License.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors in Education or Math from an accredited higher education institution and 3 years of experience.
  • Ability to speak the Muscogee (Creek) language is preferable but not a requirement.
  • Native American and Veteran preference.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational assistance in specific discipline (GED, math, English, etc.) to student(s) which include improving understanding and comprehension of subject; assist in preparation of course assignments.
  • Assist in tracking students performance.
  • May assist in development of tutoring plans or identified problem areas.
  • Assist with the preparation of instructional material, set up lab equipment, and act as a learning facilitator via customized workshops and learning sessions for individuals and/or groups.
  • Record, track and maintain related student records, logs and database(s); responsible for preparing forms and reports as required.
  • Collaborate with Retention Committee to establish goals and recommend ways to improve services.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory system for instructional materials and equipment, including computer hardware and software.
  • Coordinate the distribution and retrieval of print and non-print classroom resources in self-paced learning environment.
  • Maintain usage records and monitor material return.
  • Maintain a thorough and current knowledge of all federal, state, institutional and other regulations, policies, guidelines.
  • Be active in relevant professional organizations.
  • Participate in College committees as assigned.
  • Outcomes and products will be consistent with Board of Regents Policy.
  • Perform duties in an effective and efficient manner; be motivated, conscientious, thorough, accurate and reliable with respect to attendance.
  • Exhibit exemplary oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective problem solving ability; willingness to assume leadership in promoting good public service skills.
  • Self-initiating individual possessing effective organizational planning and interpersonal skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Leave should not be taken during trimesters when classes are in session.
