About The Position

The Academic Instructor, Substitute provides academic instruction using approved curricula at Tongue Point Job Corps Center in Astoria, Oregon. The instructor provides training, basic guidance, and direction to help students achieve their academic goals. The work schedule is as needed.

Requirements

• An associate's degree and/or a combination of education and experience that provides knowledge or skill to instruct in the designated subject matter area.
• A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Nice To Haves

• A bachelor's degree and a valid substitute teaching certificate in the state of employment.
• One year of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with direction, instruction, and assistance in designated instructional areas.
• Motivate and counsel students regarding behavior, training, personal problems, and study habits.
• Coordinate with counselors and staff to resolve issues affecting student training or instruction.
• Develop and prepare lessons in accordance with approved curriculum guidelines, and recommend curriculum changes and supplemental materials.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe training environment.
• Participate in student assessment panels and complete required documentation and evaluations using CIS (Center Information System) and other documentation systems.
