About The Position

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time hepatologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) to join a growing academic program. The ideal candidate should be board certified or board eligible in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology. They will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Our GI and Hepatology service line of professionals offer a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats a medically diverse population, and has exposure to clinically challenging cases. We have a new and expanding endoscopy center including state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures and ERCPs, as well as close access to adjacent specialty clinics. WVU Medicine is West Virginia University’s affiliated health system, West Virginia’s largest private employer, and a national leader in patient safety and quality. The WVU Health System is comprised of a network of 25 hospitals and their affiliated clinics, anchored by its flagship hospital, J.W Ruby Memorial in Morgantown, an 881-bed academic medical center that offers tertiary and quaternary care. The new and expanded endoscopy center includes state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures involving ERCP, interventional EUS and endobariatrics. In addition, there is robust support from interventional radiology, hepatobiliary surgery, and GI pathology. Ruby Memorial Hospital currently offers kidney and heart transplantation. Requirements

  • MD or DO degree, or foreign equivalent, and be eligible for state medical license.
  • Completed an accredited internal medicine residency program, gastroenterology fellowship and transplant hepatology fellowship.
  • Board eligible, or board certified in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical duties involve outpatient hepatology clinic, general endoscopy, and attending on the inpatient gastroenterology/hepatology consult service (approximately 1:8).
  • Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
