Academic Hepatologist Physician
About The Position
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine is seeking a full-time hepatologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) to join a growing academic program. The ideal candidate should be board certified or board eligible in transplant hepatology and gastroenterology. They will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Our GI and Hepatology service line of professionals offer a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats a medically diverse population, and has exposure to clinically challenging cases. We have a new and expanding endoscopy center including state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures and ERCPs, as well as close access to adjacent specialty clinics. where they will join a team of 11 gastroenterology physicians (including 3 hepatologists) and 5 APPs, (including 1 full-time hepatology nurse practitioner). There is a culture of professionalism, collegiality, and respect within the Department of Medicine. Tremendous institutional support for academic pursuits is available as well as opportunities to build clinical and research programs within a large referral academic center. The division offers a complete range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, treats a medically diverse population, and has exposure to clinically challenging cases. The new and expanded endoscopy center includes state-of-the-art suites for advanced procedures involving ERCP, interventional EUS and endobariatrics. In addition, there is robust support from interventional radiology, hepatobiliary surgery, and GI pathology. Ruby Memorial Hospital currently offers kidney and heart transplantation. Requirements
- MD or DO degree, or foreign equivalent, and be eligible for state medical license.
- Completed an accredited internal medicine residency program, gastroenterology fellowship and transplant hepatology fellowship.
- Board eligible, or board certified in gastroenterology and transplant hepatology.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities
- Clinical duties involve outpatient hepatology clinic, general endoscopy, and attending on the inpatient gastroenterology/hepatology consult service (approximately 1:8).
- Actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
