Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Three years of academic counseling experience
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends
  • Some travel is required.
  • A successful DMV background check is required for this position.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may be substituted.

  • Experience working with a division one athletic program

Responsibilities

  • Direct day-to-day academic counseling responsibilities for athletic programs including course scheduling, academic progress monitoring, individual academic counseling, and NCAA certification/continuing eligibility for assigned teams.
  • Meet regularly with coaching staff on matters pertaining to student-athlete success.
  • Oversee the admissions process for assigned student-athletes, working directly with the Office of Admissions.
  • Assist with the Student-Athlete orientation and welcome days program that will complement the University of St. Thomas freshman transition process.
  • Meet with prospective student-athletes (PSA) for assigned teams during official and unofficial visits.
  • Create programming specific to each PSA and present information related to the University of St. Thomas’ academic programs, procedures and resources.
  • Maintain thorough records of assigned student-athletes progress towards degree, attrition information and expected graduation dates to project, track, and report on APR and GSR Data.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
