About The Position

Georgetown University’s Berkley School of Nursing seeks a dedicated Academic Advisor to provide comprehensive, student-centered advising to a diverse undergraduate and graduate population. Grounded in the University’s Jesuit tradition and commitment to cura personalis (care for the whole person), the Academic Advisor supports students in achieving their academic, personal, and professional goals. The Advisor works closely with faculty, deans, and campus partners to guide students through curriculum planning, academic policies, and challenges that may impact their success. The Academic Advisor is responsible for fostering students’ academic and personal growth through their time in our programs. The Academic Advisor is responsible for closely interfacing with central administrative units such as the Registrar, the Joint Office of Graduate Studies, the Office of Global Education and other educational partners.

Requirements

At least 5-7 years in a higher education setting.
Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or a related field.
Strong organizational skills and precise attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously and respond to ever-changing environments comprised of a diverse group of stakeholders.
Appreciation for the value of a strong undergraduate and graduate education.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Interest and ability in computer software applications.
High energy.
Excellent listening, writing, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of a diverse student population.

Nice To Haves

Experience supervising diverse teams.
Health education experience.
Familiarity with various data management systems, including: Banner, Cognos, and SalesForce CRM.

Provide academic advisement in the areas of course registration, degree progression planning, and personal and professional development focusing on study abroad, internships, graduate school admissions, career counseling, service work, and a variety of other student-centered issues.
