Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration, or a job-related field plus one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
  • Specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Equivalent amounts of job-related, graduate level education may be substituted for the required experience.
  • Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organization and program management.
  • Working knowledge of research techniques, interview techniques, and the principles of individual and group behavior.
  • Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to present clear and concise information orally and in written reports.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures and activities and the overall organization.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in liberal arts, counseling, student affairs, psychology, public administration, or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field.
  • In-progress or earned master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
  • Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of academic counseling techniques and proven ability to effectively listen, advise, and counsel students on university and college program offerings, policies, procedures, and curricular requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Teams, Dropbox, Text Expander, and Student Information Systems such as Navigate360.
  • Skill in maintaining effective electronic filing systems.
  • A valid California driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in providing academic advisement and support to undergraduate students in the Online Business degree completion program.
  • Advises newly admitted and continuing undergraduate students on their major degree requirements, course selection, evaluation of transcripts, and general university policies and procedures.
  • Conducts outreach to students on academic notice.
  • Assists in the creation, enhancement, facilitation, and assessment of Online Business student events and support resources.
  • Assists in maintaining various tools and spreadsheets utilized for efficient service and support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
