About The Position

Emory University School of Medicine’s Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences offers a full-time, one-year Abdominal Imaging Fellowship. The fellowship combines supervised and independent patient evaluation and management, progressively complex imaging interpretation, and formal educational activities. Fellows provide care appropriate to their level of advancement and competence under the general supervision of appropriately privileged attending teaching staff. The fellowship includes interpreting abdominal and pelvic CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopic, and plain-film examinations across a range of indications and subspecialties. Fellows prepare for and participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and have dedicated elective time for focused abdominal imaging experience or other areas within the radiology department, potentially including interventional radiology procedures. Fellows receive graduated levels of independence and, depending on performance, may gain experience final-signing reports. Call is shared evenly among fellows and includes nightly beeper coverage from home and weekend duties. Weekend responsibilities include in-hospital interpretation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. of overnight cases for Grady Health, with preliminary readings by overnight residents, as well as abdominal cases performed during the day. Home beeper coverage runs from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. Coverage responsibilities and duty hours may vary slightly by assigned facility. Work is generally performed in person at an Emory University location; remote work-from-home days may be granted at department discretion, and Emory may change remote-work status with notice. Applicants must have completed, or be scheduled to complete before July 1 of the fellowship year, a diagnostic radiology residency accredited in the United States or Canada. Applicants must hold an MD degree or equivalent and meet Georgia medical licensure requirements.
