ABC News “What You Need To Know” Production Intern, Fall 2026
About The Position
"What You Need To Know" is a weekday news show anchored by ABC News chief international correspondent James Longman and senior political correspondent Rachel Scott, on Disney+. The short-form streaming series is ABC News' first original daily news program created for Disney+. "What You Need To Know" is the fast, fresh way to stay ahead of the conversation as viewers start their day. From breaking headlines and the day's biggest stories to entertainment buzz and viral videos, the show has everything you need to know. The approximate dates of this internship are mid-August 2026 through early January 2027 and the hours will be a Monday-Friday schedule, 5:00am ET – 1:00pm ET.
Requirements
- Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving and collaborative work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
- Experience with working in a deadline-driven environment
- Experience in and/or basic understanding of news production
- Experience with standard office software
Nice To Haves
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in MS Word, Access, Excel & PowerPoint
- Previous internship experience, either within print or broadcast journalism
- Previous experience related to social media
- Familiarity and/or experience with editing systems, such as Adobe Premiere and/or Avid
Responsibilities
- Assisting producers and staff with all aspects of production.
- Booking, assisting with news breaking crashes, logging & transcribing
- Assisting with graphics
- Researching stories & additional support functions
- Light video editing
- Pitching stories
- Shadowing in control room
- Shadowing/assisting with field pieces
- Assisting with social media
- Assisting on segments
- Fact checking
