About The Position

"What You Need To Know" is a weekday news show anchored by ABC News chief international correspondent James Longman and senior political correspondent Rachel Scott, on Disney+. The short-form streaming series is ABC News' first original daily news program created for Disney+. "What You Need To Know" is the fast, fresh way to stay ahead of the conversation as viewers start their day. From breaking headlines and the day's biggest stories to entertainment buzz and viral videos, the show has everything you need to know.

Requirements

  • Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving and collaborative work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
  • Experience with working in a deadline-driven environment
  • Experience in and/or basic understanding of news production
  • Experience with standard office software
  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
  • Fully available to work 40 hours per week
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

Nice To Haves

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in MS Word, Access, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Previous internship experience, either within print or broadcast journalism
  • Previous experience related to social media
  • Familiarity and/or experience with editing systems, such as Adobe Premiere and/or Avid

  • Assisting producers and staff with all aspects of production.
  • Booking
  • Assisting with news breaking crashes
  • Logging & transcribing
  • Assisting with graphics
  • Researching stories & additional support functions
  • Light video editing
  • Pitching stories
  • Shadowing in control room
  • Shadowing/assisting with field pieces
  • Assisting with social media
  • Assisting on segments
  • Fact checking
