About The Position

ABC News Live is a 24/7 streaming video news channel that offers live special event and breaking news coverage, along with context and analysis of significant stories. As a 24/7 on-demand news and information destination, it provides live breaking news and original reporting on topics such as politics, weather, business, health, personal finance, entertainment, culture, lifestyle, and travel.

This internship is scheduled to take place from mid-August 2026 through early January 2027. The intern will be part of the First Hour team, working a Monday-Friday schedule from 5:30 am ET to 1:30 pm ET.

Requirements

• Experience using Microsoft Office
• Experience with multi-tasking in a constantly evolving work environment, effectively balancing and prioritizing multiple projects
• Experience working in collaborative environments, and researching and/or using a range of tools to acquire information and present findings
• Familiar with and/or interest in journalism or news writing
• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Possess unrestricted work authorization
• Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
• Fully available to work 40 hours per week with the schedule of Monday-Friday, 5:30am ET – 1:30pm ET.
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television production, news and news media production; and/or television news script writing
• Experience video editing using AVID or similar editing software
• Major or previous coursework in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, Film/Television or a related field
• Junior or Senior year preferred

Responsibilities

• Logging and transcribing during breaking news
• Assisting with graphics
• Researching and pitching stories
• Video editing
• Shadowing in the control room
• Shadowing/assisting during filming
• Assisting with social media
• Running scripts
• Running teleprompter
• Assisting on segments
• Fact checking
