About The Position

Manhattan Behavioral Center (MBC) is seeking a positive, dynamic ABA Therapist interested in joining a therapeutic team where the goal is to offer every child the opportunity to thrive. MBC is New York City’s Leading Transdisciplinary ABA® Center for Children with Autism. Our collaborative and transdisciplinary ABA® framework consists of applied behavior analysis, special education, speech language therapy, physical and occupational therapy, sensory integration, group and social interaction, and family support for children – ages 5 to 21 – with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and related neurodiversities. Requirements

  • Enrollment or completion of a BACB-approved or verified course sequence ABA program.
  • Experience working in a home-based and clinic environment preferred
  • Must be able to work independently and maintain a professional yet friendly demeanor when working in the home and clinic.
  • Must have a compatible device (iPad, Laptop etc.) to use for electronic notes

Responsibilities

  • Implement ABA-based programs using DTT, Learn Unit, Task Analysis, probe data and NET teaching methods
  • Collect program and behavior data which can include but are not limited to aggression, SIB, property destruction, elopement, stereotypy
  • Implement research-based interventions to decrease interfering behaviors and teach replacement skills
  • Engage in Safety Care holds/transport or disengagement tactics for students during behavioral episodes
  • Prepare and organize teaching materials and teaching settings prior to each session
  • Work collaboratively with team of ABA therapists, BCBAs, related service providers to implement student-specific strategies and protocols
  • Report issues or challenges to BCBA Case Manager or Program Supervisor
  • Show professional and calm demeanor throughout daily interactions with students, staff, parents, and visitors
  • Engage and use Safety Care Intervention holds/transport or disengagement tactics for students during behavioral episodes. This may mean physically intervening after being trained thoroughly, to help deescalate children when they become a danger to themselves or others.
  • Must be capable of safely and effectively performing these duties on students of varying heights
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
