About The Position

The Hurst Conference Center is seeking an A/V Specialist to join their team on a part-time, as-needed basis. This role involves setting up and tearing down audio-visual equipment, assisting clients with their presentation needs, and supporting staff and clients during evening and weekend events. The ideal candidate must be available to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays, and possess strong customer service skills. This position is non-exempt and pays $17.00 per hour, with a maximum of 999 hours budgeted per year.

Requirements

• Some experience and basic knowledge in event production (e.g., audio visual, sound/light mixers, decorative lighting, and event support).
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with guests and clients.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to work a varied schedule under diverse conditions and according to sometimes-stringent time schedules.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and establish priorities.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and essential job function screening.
• Must have availability days, evenings, Saturday and/or Sunday.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of methods, practices, equipment and machinery used in setups and teardowns, and of general technical service procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down of AV equipment.
• Work with clients to connect their presentations to projectors and house sound.
• Assist staff and clients with evening and weekend events.
• Set up, operate, and maintain audio & video equipment.
• Connect laptops to projectors, open PowerPoint presentations, and move files between computers.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors when required.
• Oversee that all events are coordinated and executed in a professional and safe manner.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by General Manager or Acting Manager on Duty.
