About The Position

The Hurst Conference Center is seeking a Part-Time A/V Specialist to set up and tear down AV equipment. This role involves working with clients to connect their presentations to projectors and house sound, and assisting staff and clients with evening and weekend events. Availability during days, evenings, Saturdays, and/or Sundays is required. The position operates under the supervision of the Technical Services Coordinator and is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of audio and video equipment. Key duties include connecting laptops to projectors, managing PowerPoint presentations, moving files between computers, coordinating with third-party vendors, and ensuring events are coordinated and executed professionally and safely. The role also requires maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor towards clients and staff, as customer service skills are vital. Other tasks may be assigned by the General Manager or Acting Manager on Duty.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of methods, practices, equipment and machinery used in setups and teardowns, and of general technical service procedures.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule under diverse conditions and according to sometimes-stringent time schedules.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and establishes priorities.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to deal effectively and courteously with guests and clients.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and essential job function screening.
  • Must have availability days, evenings, Saturday and/or Sunday.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience and basic knowledge in event production e.g. audio visual, sound/light mixers, decorative lighting, and event support.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up, operates, and maintains audio & video equipment.

  • Coordinates with third-party vendors when required.
  • Oversees that all events are coordinated and executed in a professional and safe manner.
  • Available to work irregular schedule as required ensuring proper supervision of events and activities scheduled in the Hurst Conference Center.
  • Acts in a professional and courteous manner towards clients and staff.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by General Manager or Acting Manager on Duty.
