About The Position

Better Companies is a multi-brand financial services organization providing debt relief, tax support, and business funding solutions. The A/R Specialist owns the end-to-end order-to-cash process, from sales order conversion through cash application and subledger close. This is a dedicated, single-person accounts receivable function and serves as a bridge among Finance, Sales, Billing, Collections, and external lending partners. The role reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

The position combines high-volume transaction processing with detailed reconciliations and month-end close responsibilities. It offers hands-on exposure to ASC 606 revenue recognition, ERP data architecture, and executive-level reporting, with opportunities for professional development and career mobility within the finance organization. The role is fully in-office in Irvine, California, and is full-time, non-exempt, and hourly, with compensation of $41.00–$46.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required).
• Solid command of standard accounting principles.
• At least 5 years of dedicated accounting experience, including proven success managing an AR subledger end-to-end in a fast-paced, high-volume transaction environment.
• Proven experience reconciling complex merchant processor activity, batch remittances, ACH processing, and chargeback reserves.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, and management of large datasets.
• Ability to multitask, take initiative on ad-hoc requests, and pivot quickly as operational priorities shift.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external financial partners.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP, including customer records, AR module configurations, and custom saved searches.
• An active CPA license or progress toward obtaining a CPA.
• Experience with third-party consumer lending or special finance entity portals.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close and reconciliation of the accounts receivable subledger in NetSuite, including cash application, unapplied cash, credit memos, write-offs, and bad debt allowance schedules.
• Prepare supporting schedules and workpapers for the monthly close package and audit preparation.
• Provide AR, billing, and collections data supporting ASC 606 revenue recognition and deferred revenue calculations.
• Reconcile daily transactions across merchant processing platforms, special finance entity disbursements, processing fees, ACH transfers, chargebacks, and reserve holdbacks.
• Match merchant deposits to bank statements and investigate batch timing differences, short payments, and discrepancies.
• Monitor lender portals, reconcile funded disbursements to open receivables, and promptly apply direct wire and cash receipts with complete audit trails.
• Manage the order-to-billing pipeline by tracking incoming sales orders and ensuring conversion into active, billable accounts.
• Serve as the primary operational contact among Finance, Sales, Collections, Billing, merchant processors, and special finance partners to resolve account inquiries.
• Act as the internal subject matter expert for the NetSuite AR module, managing customer records, billing schedules, invoices, payments, and saved searches.
• Troubleshoot NetSuite module issues with administrators or consultants to streamline workflows.
• Partner with the accounting management team on administrative and clerical tasks to maintain smooth operations.
