About The Position

ProspectBlue is partnering with an established organization in Richmond, VA, to identify an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist for its accounting team. This role is suited to a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working with customers, managing account activity, and maintaining accurate and efficient financial processes. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable balancing daily accounts receivable responsibilities with customer communication and account reconciliation. Strong data entry skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and professional communication skills are essential.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field.
• Experience processing payments, applying cash receipts, and monitoring outstanding balances.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general data entry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Professional, customer-focused approach to resolving account inquiries and discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Process customer payments received through checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit cards.
• Apply cash receipts accurately and promptly to customer accounts.
• Prepare and distribute customer invoices and account statements.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Communicate with customers about payment status, billing questions, and account discrepancies.
• Research and resolve billing issues, payment discrepancies, and unapplied cash.
• Maintain accurate customer account records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with additional accounting and administrative duties as needed.
