The 7th Grade Softball Head Coach supervises sport-specific student-athletes and assistant coaches in accordance with the Gadsden Independent School District’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include adherence to the Gadsden Independent School District’s rules, regulations, and Athletic Philosophy; promoting and encouraging students to play sports; and treating student-athletes in a professional manner in conjunction with the athletic coordinator and campus principal. The coach is responsible for developing a program that excels in athletic performance, classroom achievement, and community expectations, while enforcing a "Code of Ethics" for all athletes and teaching sportsmanship. They must also ensure student-athletes maintain academic success and adhere to all district and New Mexico Activities Association rules and guidelines. The coach is responsible for the entire program for grades 7-8 and must work with other coaches and administrators to upgrade the athletic program. They are also responsible for program development that involves middle school and elementary school students and must coordinate with the high school program and head coach, aligning offensive and defensive strategies with the high school's philosophy. Coaching methods should be up-to-date, with the ability to analyze and correct errors, and employ sound teaching skills. Management functions include securing facilities, supervising locker rooms, ensuring proper use of uniforms and equipment, submitting inventory and requests, and following fundraising guidelines.
