About The Position

The 7th Grade Assistant Football Coach at Deer Park School District #414 is responsible for providing knowledge, motivation, and leadership in the sport of football. The role aims to help students excel to their full potential while competing in an atmosphere that contributes to their total education, including physical well-being, moral character, and social and mental development. The coach will work in conjunction with the Head Coach to instruct athletes on techniques, rules, and safety practices, and will supervise athletes during practices, games, and travel.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 or older for Assistant Coach
  • Must have a current First Aid/CPR certification or be able to acquire it by the start of the season
  • Understand the activity/sport, its safety practices, techniques, rules, and progression of skill development
  • Demonstrated successful experience building relationships with players, parents, and the community is required

Nice To Haves

  • Previous applicable coaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Instruct athletes regarding the techniques, rules, and safety practices of the sport
  • Schedules, organizes, and conducts practice in conjunction with the Head Coach
  • Supervise athletes from the scheduled beginning of the practice or game until the last athlete is picked up, knowing where all participants are at all times
  • Supervise athletes on buses on trips to other schools
  • Promotes the entire interscholastic program of the school and directs the program in harmony with the total school program
  • Sets an example of the highest ethical and moral conduct, including respecting and supporting contest officials
  • Fosters among the participants and spectators an appreciation of the values of athletics, an attitude of good sportsmanship, and a sense of pride in self, team, school, and community
  • Promotes a healthy lifestyle to student-athletes
  • Adheres to all safety laws and district policies
  • Follows the injuries, care, and prevention procedures of the Deer Park School District
  • Reports on injuries to the Head Coach and Athletic Director
  • Recognizes and adheres to any athlete's health plans
  • Communicating with parents in a timely, proactive, and professional manner
  • Provides equal opportunities for all athletes as per the student nondiscrimination policy
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach/ Athletic Director
