About The Position

Hemlock Public School District is seeking a 7th Grade Girls Basketball Coach. This position requires a candidate with a high level of basketball knowledge and experience in coaching best practices. The coach will be responsible for instructing student athletes, developing strategies to improve play, and fostering a positive and encouraging environment for student participation in sports. Collaboration with administration, staff, and other coaches is essential for student success and a positive school climate.

Requirements

Successful coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.
High level of basketball knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of best practices in coaching.
Experience working as part of a collaborative team.
Willingness to meet all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) course requirements.
Obtain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.

Nice To Haves

HPSD certified professional educators desired but not required.
Alternate qualifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

Instruct student athletes in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
Develop and use strategies to improve individual and team play.
Encourage student participation in the sport.
Utilize classroom discipline strategies while providing positive reinforcement.
Support and encourage students to participate in other sports.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other coaches.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
