About The Position

This is an extra duty position for a 6th Grade Girls Basketball Coach at Helfrich Park Middle School for the 2026-27 school year. The primary function is to develop and implement an exemplary athletic program that provides the highest quality education and growth opportunities for every student athlete. The role involves ensuring compliance with school policies, working cooperatively with staff, relating positively to parents and community, demonstrating professional growth, completing records and reports accurately, accepting responsibilities beyond the team setting, and assuming responsibility for the care of materials, equipment, and facilities. The coach is also responsible for ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Instructional responsibilities include fostering positive interactions among student-athletes, building supportive relationships with the school and community, demonstrating enthusiasm for coaching and learning, promoting self-direction and self-motivation in students, and creating clearly defined standards of behavior and academic performance. Subject matter expertise includes comprehensive knowledge of basketball, effective instruction, and adapting strategy to student needs. Planning involves developing and sustaining an organized athletic program with long-term planning and utilizing diverse strategies for student athlete development. Delivery includes clearly conveying coaching expectations, explaining their significance, utilizing appropriate coaching techniques, and maintaining a system for monitoring student progress.
