Basketball Head Coach, (Girls)
About The Position
This role involves planning, organizing, and conducting regular practice sessions for the girls' basketball team. The coach will develop and implement game strategies, teach fundamental skills, and supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips. Key responsibilities include monitoring academic progress, promoting discipline and sportsmanship, ensuring compliance with athletic regulations, managing team equipment, collaborating with the athletic director, and maintaining communication with parents. The coach will also provide mentorship on personal development and college opportunities, and enforce school policies.
Requirements
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level.
- Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate.
- Valid FHSAA certification.
- Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
Nice To Haves
- Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level.
- Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture.
- Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes.
Responsibilities

- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips.
- Monitor academic progress and support students in balancing athletics and academics.
- Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players.
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations.
- Manage and maintain team equipment and uniforms.
- Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling, budget, and facility use.
- Maintain open communication with parents and guardians.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities.
- Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
