About The Position

Under the direction of the Transportation Director, this role involves driving a school bus or van for youth education services, and maintaining and managing school buses, vans, and monitors. The driver will operate a school van on assigned routes, including for Y-AIM evenings, and ensure compliance with all city, state, and federal regulations regarding vehicle operations and the transport of students, members, or participants.

Requirements

High School or equivalent.
7D license or ability and willingness to train (Training on site will be available).
First Aid, AED, CPR certified.
A satisfactory driving record and ability to demonstrate defensive driving.

Responsibilities

Safely and effectively operate a school van on assigned school or trip-related routes; drive for Y-AIM evenings.
Follow and help enforce all city, state, and federal regulations around vehicle operations and the transport of students, members, or participants.
Complete thorough pre- and post-trip checks each day and record all information, including gas level, mileage, and maintenance on designated forms.
Clean out the bus each day.
Promote safety by keeping first aid supplies fully stocked.
Ensure that bus rules are announced and followed.
Develop friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
Communicate regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
Attend all training and in-services around safety, vehicle operations, and staffing.
Serve as a mandated reporter within transportation operations.
Ensure the safety of youth on the bus in conjunction with the bus monitor(s) assigned to their vehicles.
Perform other duties as assigned.
