Texas Hearing InstituteHouston, TX
Onsite

About The Position

An amazing opportunity to work with a team of experienced pediatric audiologists, certified auditory-verbal therapists, and teachers of the deaf for a one-of-a-kind learning experience! The audiology department at Texas Hearing Institute is seeking highly motivated Doctor of Audiology students to complete an exciting and challenging fourth-year externship in pediatrics. This full-time externship will provide doctoral students with opportunities to learn about disorders of hearing in childhood, participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and develop the clinical skills necessary to enter the professional world as a pediatric audiologist. At Texas Hearing Institute, we specialize in diagnostic testing to rule out or identify hearing loss in children. When hearing loss is identified, we collaborate with caregivers using a family-centered approach to determine optimal intervention and/or treatment options. Texas Hearing Institute audiology protocols are current, evidence-based, and follow best practices. The Melinda Webb School (MWS) is located on-site within Texas Hearing Institute and is an auditory-oral school for students who are 18 months old through 6 years of age. Audiology externs assist MWS staff with troubleshooting and daily listening checks of personal hearing technology and HAT.
