The 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office offers a 2L internship for law students contemplating a career in criminal prosecution. Interns work alongside experienced prosecutors on real criminal cases and may become involved in all aspects of prosecution, from investigation through trial. Work may include researching novel legal issues, helping draft pleadings, observing courtroom proceedings, reviewing new felony filings for potential evidentiary challenges, and preparing trial exhibits. The program provides training and mentorship intended to prepare interns to return as 3L interns and, potentially, deputy district attorneys. Interns are integrated into the office team and participate in meetings, training, and gatherings with deputy district attorneys. The position is based in the Douglas County Office at 4000 Justice Way, Castle Rock, Colorado. During fall and spring semesters, interns work part-time, with schedules that can be tailored to accommodate school calendars. Interns earn $21 per hour and may receive law school credit, pay, or both.
