About The Position

The Undergraduate Summer Analyst Program gives undergraduate juniors the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at a unique institution. Junior interns work in one specific business area or function for ten weeks, and have access to opportunities for collaboration with other students and employees from around the Bank. At the end of the program, students leave with strong skills, professional connections, and meaningful experiences that will support them in their long-term careers. The mission of the New York Fed’s Data and Statistics function is to increase utility and ability to leverage financial data through standardization, thoughtful collection design, and increase capacity of the Function to scale operations. You will be a part of the Financial Condition (FC) or International and Domestic Markets (IDM) team within the larger Financial Analysis Services Team (FAST), responsible for performing data analysis, building out and managing analytical products and responding to ongoing stakeholder and firm inquiries related to interpretive reporting topics. FC provides services focusing on data quality assurance and analysis of financial data received from domestic and foreign depository and financial institutions.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with financial statements (income and balance sheet)
  • Experience identifying data and reporting discrepancies
  • Experience providing timely and accurate analysis, verbally and written
  • Ability to demonstrate the Bank’s Touchstone Behaviors, such as Collaborate Inclusively and Drive Progress
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Power Point

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Tableau, R, SAS, Python, SQL or similar technology is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analysis and visualizations, develop questions that resolve data quality anomalies, and research inquiries for data series, reporters, and data concepts
  • Assist in communicating with financial institutions to enhance data quality and controls
  • Collaborate with team members to assess and respond to requests from Board staff on data collection operations
  • Help to update procedure documents and assist peers on data collections, as needed
  • Participate in team analytical and data visualization initiatives as well as Function and System workgroups as assigned

  • Salary Range: Your regular wages for the 10 weeks will be paid on a semi-monthly basis and will be calculated based on an annual salary of $72,100
